An administration police officer was on Wednesday morning found dead.

The deceased was part of the security team assigned to escort election material during the just concluded Migori senatorial by-election.

According to the area chief, Wilis Ogwada the officer, attached to Othoro Police Post was on Tuesday taken to St. Joseph Omboo Mission Hospital after showing signs of mental illness.

Accompanied by his wife and another officer, he was treated and diagnosed with malaria. He was discharged.

Shortly after getting home, his wife says, her husband walked out of their home, never to return.

His lifeless body was found today (Wednesday) morning hanging from a tree branch.

His remains have been moved to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary.
