Zesco United’s Kenyan International Striker Jesse Were has scooped the Zambian Super Leagues Fans Player of the Month of July 2018 award.

Jesse edged out Green Eagles striker Anos Tembo in the Final round of voting which ended on Saturday the 4th of August 2018 at 12:00 CAT to bag the accolade.

The former Tusker FC goal-poacher got an overwhelming 1055 votes followed by Anos who got 498 votes with 1553 people voting.

It was the first time in the history of the award that someone who didn’t win the first round of voting ended up winning the second round after Jesse initially came second in the first round getting just 155 votes while Amos got the highest number of votes with 406 before Were went onto win the second round.

This was the Kenyan International striker’s second nomination after he was nominated for the first time in the June edition but came out third behind Power Dynamos striker Alex Ngonga and eventual winner Green Eagles winger Spencer Sautu.

Fondly referred to by Zesco fans as the King Jesse has now earned himself K1,500 ( $150) Cash and will get the award next weekend when Zesco United travel to Lusaka to meet Napsa Stars.
