Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has moved to Japan’s topflight side Sagan Tosu from La Liga side, Atletico Madrid.
“We are pleased to inform you that at Sagan Tosu, Fernando Torres has decided to join,” the club said in a statement.
They added: “We would like to ask for your continued cooperation in coverage of news reports and announcements.
“Fernando Torres’ comments will be posted on Sagan Tosu’s official website later.”
Famously known as “El Niño” for his scoring prowess during his Liverpool/Chelsea days, the 34-year-old Spain international is now nearing retirement.
He won the World Cup with Spain in 2010 in South Africa, the biggest crowing moment of his career. He also bagged two Euro Cups with the La Furia Roja.
