3 People Killed After Starlight Academy School Bus Involved In Accident

Two pupils and a driver from Starlight Academy died this morning in an accident near Sultan Hamud in Makueni County as they were heading to Mombasa.

The school driver collided head-on with a trailer as he attempted to overtake a number of vehicles at a high speed.

The pupils who were seated in front together with the driver died on the spot and the others were found unconscious. The injured pupils were rushed to Kilome Nursing Home.

“It was a very bad accident. The matatu stalled about 10 meters from the scene. The children who were seated behind the driver were critically injured. They were unconscious when they were pulled out of the wreckage.” said an eyewitness.

According to Mukaa Sub-County OCPD, Charles Muthui, the van rolled several times after hitting the truck, killing the driver instantly.
