Graduate police officers are an angry lot after the resolution by the National police service commission to cut down their salaries.

In the late nineties there was a resolution to professionalize the police service therefore allowing them to go to school and get degrees . This would mean that their salaries will be a bit higher than the constables that had not acquired the certificates.

The police graduates are angry because they had to get loans in order to pay their school fees which would mean that the salaries would go into negative after the deductions.

The police graduates feel that police in higher ranks without degrees are the reasons behind the salary deductions as they feel threatened by professional police and would like to maintain the police as is.

The police are not allowed to strike belong to a union or seek industrial action therefore they are forced to accept the decision by the national police service commission.

Treasury recently said that they would increase the austerity measures to reduce the money that is spent by government. Currently most of the money for the police goes to housing and operations.
