Sam Wairimu, former Maragua MP aspirant has threatened to sue Citizen Tv for defamation.

Wairimu who has had an illustrious banking career claims that the TV station on January 26, 2018 during the 9 and 11pm news used his image wrongfully.

The former MP aspirant who was in July 2017 accused of trying to sodomize Joseph Kinyanjui, says that Citizen used his image depicting him as a suspect to gang rape and murder crimes.

The story’s headline read ‘Former MCA arrested over wife’s death’ and his image captioned ‘Deadly obsession.’

The wrongful use of his picture, he says has cast him in a bad light and has occasioned him immense embarrassment, untold suffering and un-precedented mental anguish.

Through his lawyer, Chui Karera, Wairimu says that he has since been unable to walk on the streets freely without being harassed and is constantly living in fear of being lynched.

He is demanding that Citizen TV ceases and desists from displaying his image on all its platforms; Citizen Tv, Twitter and Facebook pages.

He has also insisted that the television station apologizes to him on all media platforms where the story appeared.

Wairimu has asked that the station admits to wrongful use of his photograph within 14 days or else he will take legal action against it.

The politician was only last week acquitted of the sodomy charges leveled against him.

Delivering the ruling, the resident magistrate Mrs Kurumbu noted that there was also a warrant of arrest against the complainant. She also faulted the police for not furnishing Wairimu with the complainant’s statement.
