A columnist at the the Daily Nation, Professor Nic Cheeseman from Birmingham University has threatened to resign after businessman, Jimmy Wanjigi’s Picture was used to describe another deceased person.
The Professor has said that the publication has seen columnists receive death threats.
He revealed that the death and funeral announcement bearing the businessman’s image instead of the actual deceased person might have not been a mistake and and may have been deliberate.
He said that this type of threats are worrying for Kenya. The Birmingham university professor has said that such threats give columnists like him no option other than to resign as a Daily Nation columnist.
Death threats through a fake obituary (with tweaked name) for an opposition allied figure. Very worrying times for Kenya, and sad for those who write for the Nation that this was published. A full explanation is needed or many of us columnists will have no option but to resign. pic.twitter.com/imNKCHnneM
