Former Kandara MP Aspirant, Sam Wairimu. / COURTESY

Former Maragua MP aspirant, Sam Wairimu was on Wednesday acquitted of all charges leveled against him at the Kandara Law Courts.

Mr Wairimu was in July 2017 accused by Joseph Kinyanjui Gathariki of trying to sodomize him.

But the accused maintained that he (Kinyanjui) attacked him over politically motivated issues that were supposed to lock him out of the parliamentary seat contest.

The case was dismissed on grounds that Kinyanjui absconded, and his witnesses failed to attend court on various hearing dates.

Making the judgement, the resident magistrate Mrs Kurumbu noted that there was also a warrant of arrest against the complainant. She also faulted the police for not furnishing Wairimu with the complainant’s statement.

The former MP aspirant is now seeking to institute a case against the state for malicious prosecution and file a complaint with IPOA against a senior police officer in Kandara.
