Kisumu youths on Monday morning stormed Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s office demanding for transport to Nairobi for Raila Odinga’s swearing in ceremony.

The oath taking ceremony is set to take place at Uhuru Park, which has since been declared a ‘no-go zone’ by Nairobi Police Commander, Japheth Koome.

Speaking on Sunday, Mr Koome said that the opposition had not notified the police of their intention to use the grounds.

He however confirmed that no group will be allowed to use the venue on Tuesday.

“You have heard several groups want to use Uhuru Park on the same day. Tell them we love this city and we will guard it jealously. We will not allow a breach of peace. That the two groups or three groups will meet at the same venue, what do you expect? It’s confrontation. People will be hurt,” he told journalists.

But NASA CEO, Norman Magaya has insisted that there will be no change of venue. The first batch of opposition supporters, he said, were already in the city and more will be arriving later on in the day.

”The first batch have arrived in the city today morning. Others will come in during the day in a coordinated way,” Magaya said.

“If all options are not possible, then our last option will be Uhuru Park .. the swearing-in is a fight that we are willing to take. We have no intention of changing the venue for the ceremony.”
