There was drama in Machakos High Court after a man drew his gun threatening to shoot former Kathiani MP, Wavinya Ndeti’s son.
They were in court for the hearing of a petition filed against Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua challenging his August 8 win.
Ms Ndeti says that the gun wielding man was part of Governor Mutua’s security team.
The man was taken away by the police when things got heated. The former legislator and her son, are said to have recorded statements at the Machakos Police station.
Dan Maanzo, Ndeti’s lawyer says that the incident is being investigated and the suspect could be arraigned in court soon.
The lawyer noted that the officer was contravening the law by carrying the firearm to court.
In August 25, 2017 the Judiciary directed that only police officers deployed in the court premises be armed.
”Kindly note that apart from police officers who are deployed at the courts, no other persons shall be allowed to access our premises with firearms.”
