In the run up to the International Human Rights day (December 10) (IHRD), Human Rights networks have launched campaign against gender based violence in matatus which are used for public transport.
They averred that men are the custodians of culture in Kenya therefore should on the fore front in fighting gender based violence.
The campaign will mainly focus on young women and girls who have been victims of a harassment especially from Matatu touts.
Just recently two matatu touts were sentenced to death for stripping and sexually abusing a female passengers just because she was dressed in a manner deemed to be ‘inappropriate’ according to their standards.
Men and woman should both come out and speak against gender based violence. From sexual assault on women to manhood chopping in men. No two way about it. All have to be condemned lest it be a debate of them vs us. #GBVProtest
