IEBC Commissioner Roselyne Akombe has fled the country saying that there are threats on her life and the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati is a man under siege.
Speaking to the BBC after fleeing the country, Dr Akombe said that the commission staff have been receiving instructions and threats from both Jubilee and NASA sides of the political divide.
The commissioner flee the country by accompanying IEBC staff to Dubai to inspect the printing of ballot papers. She then took a flight from Dubai to New York.
In the BBC interview, the commissioner was pressed to confirm if Chebukati is an able leader something which she didn’t clearly commit on. She was however very clear that with some support, Chebukati would do well.
Statement after resignation;
Rumours have been swirling around on the impending resignation of Roselyne Akombe and Chairman Wafula Chebukati from IEBC. Immediately after the elections, she was rumoured as having fled the country to New York where she was a UN staff.
The commissioner also condemned NASA for disrupting IEBC activities in its stronghold.
