Gikomba open air market has been on fire since the wee hours of Friday morning.
The fire is said to have started at the fish and groceries section before spreading to other parts of the market and buildings close by.
The congestion has slowed down the firefighters efforts to put out the 3 am fire.
The National Disaster Management Unit is appealing to people and/ companies with fire engines and water boosters to help put out the fire.
