A British charity boss who previously ran Children home in Kenya and lured them to abuse them has been jailed for 17 years.
The 55 year old Simon Harris sexually molested young boys in Gilgil town between 1996 and 2013. He was the head of a charity called VAE, which placed volunteers in many Kenyan schools.
He was convicted of eight counts of indecent and sexual assault, at a British Court in December 2014.
The case is one of the first of its kind using legislation that allows British citizens to be tried for sex offences committed abroad if it is also an offence in that country. It is ironic that Kenyan authorities have not even attempted to pursue Simon to have him answer for his crimes.
Considering the crime, the British court seems to have been very lenient with Simon Harris.
Harris was also convicted of four counts of possessing indecent images of children but cleared of 10 further charges, including rape.
Harris mostly preyed on street and destitute boys who had no one to look after them. He promised them food and shelter.
