“With 16%VAT on Fuel, Traffic Jams Will Be History” Lawyer Ahmednasir

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has commended the government for fuel price increase saying that the move will reduce the number of vehicles on the road hence reduce traffic and end Matatu menace.

The implementation of 16% VAT on fuel products took place on 1 September leaving motorists frustrated.

The Motorist Association of Kenya Chairperson, Peter Murima has called for motorists to join in a strike that will take place on Monday and Tuesday, to boycott the increased fuel prices.

“We, therefore, wish to call upon motorists to again express their anger tomorrow Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th and if possible Wednesday by boycotting fuel and participating in a strike of not going to work in the morning as much as possible.” he said.

The association cited that Treasury CS Henry Rotich had overruled the notice by Parliament to postpone fuel VAT to 2022 and the Motorist Association of Kenya petition opposing the fuel prices, as well.

Different government leaders have opposed the fuel tax implementation with ODM leaders promising to call for mass demonstrations to oppose the increment.
