The police have arrested 16 Tanzanian fishermen in Bagmot Beach in Migori, for trespassing into the country and using outlawed fishing equipment.
They have been detained at Macalder Police Station awaiting arraignment in court tomorrow.
“Right now, my officers are still interrogating them,” said Migori County police boss Joseph Nthenge.

The arrests come barely a few weeks after 36 Kenyan fishermen were arrested and detained by the Tanzania authorities for alleged trespass.
The fishermen in the three countries have been complaining of lack of floaters to demacate boundaries between the three East African countries, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. They say that lack of demarcation makes it hard for them to know when they cross borders.
